orange is the new black
This is another frame restoration. I always wanted an aluminium frame without painting, with race geometry, and to be ready for canti-brakes. Got this frame well used, but reasonable in nice condition and importantly with no cracks. It is FUCHS Super Sport MTB edition, a hand-made German cult from around the mid-'90s. What did I do? I well cleaned and brushed all chips and dings found on the frame, then I did a multi-step polishing and applied decals on top of all resto processes. The frame was missing the second set of bottle cage mounts, so I made some on a seat tube. Decals have been custom-made based on information that I found about FUCHS frame production, plus I added my own inventions inspired by US "muscle cars". Orange is the new black, and as I`m putting it together with matching Rock Shox Judy XC forks, the colour of the decals fits the design of a complete bike.

I did the "custom" facelift of the frame and fork. I removed old, very damaged, colour by sand-blasting. I let painted both frame and fork with filler/primer and then with the ivory white colour. All Kona Cinder Cone and Project Two "Joe Murray" decals have been created by me, and although based on originals, I made some changes. All decals are under lacquer finish for protection.
heavy tools ht comp
As you may see my design of frames is pretty unique and this is the case too. Here I have a nice 1992 Heavy Tools steel frame. First I removed old paint by sand-blasting. The frame was not damaged and therefore I didn`t need to fix it. I removed the brake cable stop because I decided to use V-brakes only and I repaired some small local issues here and there with the body.
I let painted the frame with filler & primer and so with the Volkswagen/Audi silver grey colour. All Heavy Tools decals are custom-made with a “pin-up girl” model. I made them all in unusual pink & grey non-classic Heavy Tools colour. All are under a lacquer finish.
kona fire mountain
A complete facelift of the frame was done. I removed the old frame colour by sand-blasting the frame. Then I let painted the frame with primer/filler and so with the Audi Monsoon Grey Metallic colour. Custom Kona Fire Mountain decals are under a lacquer finish.
The frame was painted in white frame colour. Then we put on a custom airbrush as usual. I can`t imagine another way of doing custom frames.
An extended facelift was done. We removed the old frame colour by sand-blasting the frame. After that, we painted the frame with white frame colour and put it on the custom airbrush.

Just a basic facelift was done. We repaired the original colour in some places and then painted a custom airbrush. Together with the custom airbrush, we painted the rear frame bolts as well.
